Why UK teams use online group cards
The office leaving card used to go round in a brown envelope, and plenty of people never saw it. The colleagues working from home missed it. So did the night shift and the Manchester office. An online group card solves that. You drop one link into Teams, Slack or the office WhatsApp, and everyone signs from their own phone or laptop before the day. New to this? Here is how an online group card works.
A signature can be more than a line of biro. People add a photo from the Christmas do, a GIF or a short voice note. You can pass the hat without the envelope too: colleagues chip in to a group gift by card, in pounds, as they sign.
How it works for a UK office
- Pick a cover for the occasion (leaving, birthday, retirement, new baby or thank you) and add the recipient’s name.
- Post the signing link in your team channel. Nobody needs an account to sign.
- Switch on the gift collection if you’re clubbing together. Contributions are taken in GBP.
- Choose when it arrives, say 4pm on their last day, and the card lands in their inbox right on time.
Popular UK occasions
- Leaving and farewell cards: Give someone a proper send off with a leaving card the whole office signs, including people who moved on years ago and still want to say goodbye.
- Retirement cards: Mark 20 or 30 years with messages from old and current colleagues and a collection towards the present. There is more on retirement cards for UK offices.
- Maternity leave and new baby: A card and a group gift before their last day, signed by the entire team.
- Birthdays and work anniversaries: A small team can still send a big card, and nobody has to chase signatures round the building. If half your team sits across the Atlantic, see group cards for US offices.
What teams use it for
Gift in GBP (£). Pay by UK debit or credit card. Gift contributions are pooled in GBP, and every fee is shown upfront.
- Leaving cards: The classic office leaving card, minus the envelope going desk to desk. Everyone signs online, remote colleagues included.
- Birthday cards: Messages, photos and GIFs from the whole team, plus a group gift in pounds.
- Retirements and work anniversaries: Mark 5, 10 or 25 years properly, with messages from colleagues old and new.
- New baby, weddings and get well soon: For hybrid and remote UK teams where a paper card can’t reach everyone.

Questions we get all the time
How much does an online group card cost in the UK?
Making a card and collecting messages is free. You pay a small single fee only when you’re ready to send it, from $4.99 (about £3.75), shown upfront. There’s no subscription and no charge per signer.
Can people sign without creating an account?
Yes. Anyone with the link can add a message, photo, GIF or voice note without signing up.
How do group gift contributions work in the UK?
When people sign, they can chip in whatever they like by card, in GBP. The recipient or organiser then withdraws the pooled gift.
Is Thankeeu a UK alternative to Thankbox or Kudoboard?
Yes. Thankeeu gives you group cards with gift collection in GBP, voice notes, scheduled delivery and an automatic Memory Movie™, and it usually costs less.
Does the recipient need to create an account?
No. The recipient opens a link, reads every message and can claim the gift. No sign up needed.
Can people from other countries contribute to the gift pot?
Yes. Signers can chip in from anywhere with Visa, Mastercard or a local bank transfer. USD, GBP, EUR and 30+ other currencies all work.
What types of media can contributors add?
Text messages, photos, videos (up to 50MB), voice notes and GIFs, all on one card.
How does the gift pot work for companies?
Every card gets its own secure gift pot, and team members chip in individually. Once the card is sent, the recipient can withdraw the total to their bank account.
Can I schedule the card to send on a specific date?
Yes. Pick any future date and time when you create the card, and Thankeeu sends it for you, even if you forget.
